As a former candidate and a student of law this is something I've followed closely. I believe that Mr. Tasks Jan 27 memo is spot on and well researched and cited. The bigger issue for me is the allowance of developers to contribute to a candidate’s campaign and directly benefit from that contribution during the election. I can contribute to a Candidate’s campaign on Monday and have my development application reviewed and voted on by that sitting incumbent candidate on Tuesday of the same week. Allowing such raises an appearance and a possibility of conflict of interest.
