My name is Michael Short I live at 946 Highland Ave unit 43. I am opposed to having a parking garage built on the current lot. The most appropriate use of the current lot is to have it used a s surface lot. Spending over 10MM to gain around 100 parking spots is not the best use of taxpayer funds. The city should be keeping its commitment to build a parking garage in front of City Hall as originally planned. This is much better strategic location for a parking garage. The ability to enter and exit City Hall is also more favorable.
Adding more traffic to this downtown location will only make traffic worse in the already crowded downtown area. Having people take Uber, Lyft, Tiki Bus and Looper would be a better way to deliver visitors to this area. It will also likely become a parking garage for people that just want to ride on the trail and not spend any money in downtown Dunedin. If passed, ensure it has spot availability technology included.
